An Old Pawn turquoise ring set in sterling silver. The term "Old Pawn" refers to Southwestern jewelry made by the artists for themselves and not for tourist trade. This piece is circa 1940s. It’s a large and heavy ring. The turquoise stone is sky blue and heavily matrixed–like a spider's web. It’s set in a silver bezel and step-seated on a massive silver shank. The bottom of the bezel is edged with twisted silver rope wire. The inside of the ring is marked “Sterling” with the initials “JW.” The size is 9 1/2.
